Anyone seeing the crash by Dani Pedrosa at Motegi knew immediately that there was something very strange about the accident. The only footage of the crash is from the onboard camera, but the way the bike twitched as Pedrosa braked for Turn 9, the V Corner, was a sign that something was not right with the bike.
The problem, HRC revealed today, was a problem with the throttle. A malfunction with the fly-by-wire throttle caused the gas to stay open as Pedrosa braked, instead of shutting off, upsetting the balance of the bike under braking and causing Pedrosa to crash, fracturing his left collarbone in the process.
For Dovizioso’s team-mate, it was a much less happy day, Pedrosa falling early in the session and suffering a double fracture of the left collarbone which means the Spaniard is unfortunately out of the Grand Prix of Japan. The crash happened only five minutes into the session when the 25-year-old was still getting up to speed. As he began braking for tur n nine, he lost control and fell, with his left leg at first remaining under the bike as he slid into the gravel. The unlucky fall, just three laps into the session, was caused when a small problem with the throttle cable didn’t allow Pedrosa to close the throttle when he came to brake, an issue which has already been investigated and resolved. Pedrosa will return home to Spain tonight, with an operation scheduled for tomorrow to plate the fractured collarbone.
I tried to stop the bike as usual but I knew something was wrong and couldn’t avoid going down. After the crash I knew immediately that I was injured because it was very painful. I had a big impact in my left ankle and also my collarbone was broken as I hit the track – so obviously it feels very unlucky because recently we have had really good results.

With the complexity of modern racing computer-controlled systems (Stoner’s throttle was surely a ride-by-wire affair), I suppose it is surprising that these sort of things do not happen more often, but it is hard to imagine a more embarrassing outcome for Honda.
Together with HRC staff, the team checked the machine, and confirmed from the data that the throttle was 26 degrees open before the crash. It wasn’t clear why this happened and now the bike will be sent to HRC for a full inspection.
Unfortunately, we experienced some mechanical trouble as I was going through the corner leading up to the hairpin. In this corner I did not have enough time to pull the clutch and have another go at the turn as I came in with too much speed, I picked the bike up to try to slow down more but I was heading towards the wall so I decided to lay it over and hit the barrier but unfortunately, they were a lot harder than they looked and we came out of it with a broken bone in the ankle and broken scapular.
Dikatakan bahwa sebenarnya Stoner sedang melaju lancar di depan dan tiba tiba gas nya nyangkut dan motor jadi menabrak tembok. Dari data tercatat gas terbuka 26 derajat sesaat sebelum celaka.
Beberapa versi menyebutkan bahwa yang bikin tersangkut adalah kawat throttlenya. tidak jelas apakah CBR1000RR 2015 itu gas masih pakai kawat ataukah tbwnya memanfaatkan kawat untuk kendali dari motor servo ke bukaan throttle body. kalau cbr 1000cc saja masih pakai kawat maka implementasi di cbr 250 cc bisa dibilang termasuk percobaan.
Update, mungkin Honda CBR1000 cc memang tidak cocok di Suzuka 8 hour:

NaikMotor – Nicky Hayden gagal menuntaskan balapan pada Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance 2016. Mengibarkan bendera Musashi RT Harc-Pro bersama VD Mark dan Takahashi mengalami masalah teknis pada Honda CBR1000RR di Sirkuit Suzuka, Minggu (31/7/2016).
Petaka itu terjadi pada lap 50 saat Hayden sedang menjadi pembalapnya. Padahal pada saat itu posisinya kedua dibelakang rider Yamaha Factory Racing. Tim Honda lainnya, TSR juga gagal melanjutkan balapan karena terjatuh, praktis Satu Hati Honda Team Asia yang masih bertahan.
Update: Sepertinya CBR1000RR 2015 versi road belum ada throttle by wire nya, sementara untuk balap dibolehkan ditambahkan throttle by wire:

Here is a specific case: the adoption of throttle-by-wire on Chris Ulrich’s GEICO Motorcycle Honda CBR1000RR AMA Pro SuperBike. Before AMA Pro Racing finally consented to the use of an updated 2009 system, the Ulrich machine suffered the classic symptoms of braking instability. When the brakes went on and the rear wheel became light, engine braking from the one-liter four caused the rear tire to lose grip. As the bike angled over on turn entry, the rear tire would slide out as if the rider were playing with a thumb brake, 1995-style.
All this disappears when throttle-by-wire is adopted. With it, you write software that lifts the throttles (or some of them) just enough to cancel any desired fraction of engine braking. You don’t want to eliminate engine braking, you just don’t want the rear tire to hop, stutter, or slide out on corner entry.
What was the gain in the case of Ulrich’s Honda? I was told that once the unsatisfactory compromises were removed from the chassis setup (adopted to deal with engine braking conventionally), he was able to run as much as two seconds a lap quicker than before in testing. At Daytona this past weekend, Ulrich finished 13th and 10th, respectively, in the two SuperBike races.
Contoh kecelakaan diatas terjadi karena bug / glitch pada sistem throttle by wire buatan Honda. Peristiwa ini membuktikan bahwa gas dari sistem throttle by wire juga masih bisa tersangkut. Dan kalau gas tersangkut bisa bikin celaka tidak perduli itu masih pakai kabel sling atau sudah throttle by wire. Ini menjawab bantahan pembaca sebelumnya. Semoga motor Honda CBR250 yang dirilis barusan sudah bebas dari bug tersebut.
