Payah, ternyata “deflector” Ducati itu ternyata membajak ide Aprilia???


Dari kutipan sebelumnya terkesan seakan akan “deflector” itu ide cemerlangnya Ducati:

Namun ternyata ada informasi baru lagi, bahwa yang punya ide untuk memasang alat seperti itu teryata adalah Aprilia, dan tujuannya adalah untuk meningkatkan aerodinamika:

“In the last race of last year, in Valencia, Yamaha used a kind of spoon attached to the swingarm that dispersed water in the event of rain and was considered legal on safety grounds,” Rivola told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. That solution opened our eyes. So much so that at the beginning of the year we asked the technical delegate if we could go and develop something in that area, where we know there is performance to be gained. Aldridge’s answer on February 19 reiterated however that a similar solution can only be mounted in wet conditions. As a result, we stopped.

What I find serious is that the email in which we were denied a similar solution was dated February 19, and after a week [March 2] there is another one that was clearly studied at length by Ducati.”

“What this element does, it’s quite easy to work out,” he said. “A simple study of fluid dynamics shows that everything you do at the front has an effect on what is behind. In this area the air is very fast, if you attach a winglet it generates a load. There doesn’t seem to be much to discuss.

A wing cannot be mobile. This [winglet] is not in itself, but if you attach it to a swingarm that is mobile, it has a different effect depending on whether you are braking or not.”

Disebutkan bahwa Aprilia terinspirasi oleh alat yang terpasang pada motor Yamaha yang dianggap legal. Akhirnya Aprilia pun menanyakan ke bagian teknis apakah Aprilia boleh mengembangkan alat semacam karena mereka yakin bakal ada manfaatnya (berdasar pengalaman si bos Massimo Rivola dari Formula 1 juga).

Tapi ide itu ditolak oleh bagian teknis MotoGP pada 19 Februari 2019. Alasannya karena solusi semacam itu hanya boleh dipergunakan di lintasan basah. Namun ternyata kemudian bagian teknis mengijinkan Ducati menggunakannya melalui edaran 2 Maret 2019.

Dijelaskan bahwa alat di swing arm itu bekerja satu kesatuan dengan alat di suspensi depan. Selain itu bila dipasang di swing arm, alat akan bisa bekerja dengan reaksi yang berbeda ketika misalnya melakukan pengereman atau akselerasi.

Makin panjang kasusnya. Jadi terkesan badan MotoGP itu nggak netral.
