Engine brake Honda yang meningkatkan resiko crash, masalah ECU Magneti Marelli lagi?


Mungkin sudah taktik Ducati sehingga para tim MotoGP sekarang pada sengsara. Dulu cuma Ducati saja yang sengsara tapi sekarang sama sama. Dan rupanya efeknya terjadi sampai sekarang.

Kalau yang di Yamaha ECU pihak ketiga bikin motor akselerasi nggak enak atau traction control nggak reliable, maka kalau di Honda jadi sumber crash:

With regards to how many crashes I had last year all of them were with the front except for one. So you can imagine my feeling this year is not great with it. A lot of this stems from the engine brake. The bike is so unstable entering the corner.

Menurut Cal Crutchlow ia sering crash itu karena engine brake yang bermasalah. Marc Marquez katanya juga pernah mengalami hal itu.

Mengapa engine brake bisa bikin crash?

Rupanya engine brake itu bisa bikin motor berguncang dengan keras, baik ban depan maupun belakang:

I also have a lot of vibration from the bike with both the tyres for some reason. So braking early and trying to carry the corner speed is impossible, which is what you need to do with the Michelins. No feeling with the front of the bike.

There’s something completely strange with it. One corner’s perfect, the next corner’s a disaster, and then the next lap the corner that was perfect is a disaster, and so on. You have no idea what’s going on with it. I crashed because it felt like the throttle was still open. I had the brake on, and I thought at one point, I was going to make the corner, and then suddenly, you feel that you’re not going to make the corner, for no reason. And it seems to me that it’s something to do with the engine brake.

Disebut tidak mungkin pakai teknik ngerem lebih awal seperti yang dibutuhkan ban Michelin. Mungkin karena ban depan dan belakang berguncang, ia tidak bisa merasakan grip ban depan.

Perilakunya juga tidak aneh dan konsisten. Kadang fungsi dan kadang tidak. Sehingga pembalap jadi kebingungan. Sudah merasa yakin bisa menikung dengan baik namun tiba tiba terasa tidak mampu.

 

Walau Honda sudah tahu sumber masalahnya, tentu untuk memperbaiki bakal tidak mudah. Karena sistem bukan buatan sendiri tapi buatan kompetitor.
